New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday lauded the successful conclusion of the AI Impact Summit, stating that the event earned wholehearted praise from across the globe and highlighted India’s growing technological leadership.
In a post on X, the Prime Minister said the summit demonstrated how India’s youth-driven vision for technology could significantly benefit humanity. “In the historic AI Summit held in Delhi, the entire world has wholeheartedly praised India’s capabilities. This shows that the thinking of our young companions regarding technology will be of great benefit to all of humanity,” he said.
The AI Impact Summit 2026, held in New Delhi from February 16 to 20, concluded with the adoption of the New Delhi Declaration on AI Impact. The declaration marks a key step toward strengthening global cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence.
According to an official release, the declaration has been endorsed by 88 countries and international organisations, signalling broad international consensus on harnessing AI for economic growth and social welfare.
Guided by the principle of “Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya” (Welfare for All, Happiness for All), the declaration emphasises that the benefits of artificial intelligence must be equitably shared worldwide.
The summit called for deeper international collaboration and multistakeholder engagement while respecting national sovereignty. It stressed the need for accessible, secure and trustworthy AI frameworks and a shared global understanding of how AI can serve humanity responsibly.
The declaration is organised around seven key pillars, referred to as “Chakras.” These focus on democratising AI resources, promoting economic growth and social good, ensuring secure and trusted AI systems, expanding AI applications in science, enhancing access for social empowerment, developing human capital, and fostering resilient, innovative and energy-efficient AI ecosystems.
The summit also announced several voluntary and collaborative global initiatives, including the Charter for the Democratic Diffusion of AI, the Global AI Impact Commons, and the Trusted AI Commons. These initiatives aim to broaden affordable access to AI resources, scale innovative applications, and promote secure and reliable AI systems worldwide.
