Bengaluru (Karnataka): The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested a Brazilian national after seizing 4.776 kg of cocaine at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru.
According to an official statement posted by the agency on X, the drugs—estimated to be worth around ₹23.88 crore in the illicit market—were recovered from the passenger’s checked-in baggage. The accused had travelled from São Paulo to Bengaluru via Doha.
NCB officials said they discovered four modified handbags fitted with concealed compartments. The compartments allegedly contained fabric infused with cocaine, which was seized during inspection.
The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
The NCB has also urged citizens to report any information related to narcotics through its MANAS Helpline at 1933, assuring that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
In a separate operation last month, the agency dismantled an inter-state drug trafficking syndicate in Mysuru and uncovered a clandestine drug manufacturing laboratory. In that case, officials seized drugs valued at approximately ₹10 crore, along with ₹25.6 lakh in cash, a Toyota Fortuner SUV, and more than 500 kg of various chemicals.
Investigations in both cases are ongoing.
