New Delhi: Amul India has honoured Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming Hollywood debut with its signature celebratory topical, marking a major milestone in the actor’s international career.
The dairy brand, known for its witty and timely illustrated tributes to cultural events, released a special doodle following the announcement of Akhtar’s casting in The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event, directed by Academy Award-winner Sam Mendes.
The ambitious project will comprise four interconnected biopics, each told from the perspective of a different member of legendary British band The Beatles. The film series is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release in April 2028.
Akhtar will portray iconic sitar maestro Ravi Shankar, whose close association with Beatles guitarist George Harrison played a key role in introducing Indian classical music to Western audiences. Shankar’s mentorship influenced Harrison’s musical journey, leading to the use of the sitar and Indian musical elements in several Beatles songs during the late 1960s.
The ensemble cast includes Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr, and Joseph Quinn as George Harrison.
Although Akhtar previously appeared briefly as Waleed in the Marvel series Ms. Marvel, this project marks his first major international film role.
Farhan Akhtar began his acting career with the 2008 musical drama Rock On!!, where he also showcased his singing talent. Over the years, he has delivered acclaimed performances in films such as Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Toofaan, Wazir, Karthik Calling Karthik, and The Sky Is Pink. He was last seen in 120 Bahadur.
With Amul’s tribute and a prestigious international project on the horizon, Akhtar’s casting as Ravi Shankar marks a significant moment for Indian representation in global cinema.
