Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu): Spiritual leader and founder of the Isha Foundation, Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, on Sunday launched the ‘Bhavya Bharat Bhushan Award’ during the Mahashivaratri celebrations to recognise outstanding contributions across diverse fields.
The award aims to honour individuals for excellence in national security, business, arts and entertainment, sports, community welfare, science and technology, and literature and academia.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, who attended the Mahashivaratri event as the chief guest, presented the awards to achievers from various sectors.
Renowned violinist N. Rajam, one of the awardees, described the honour as a blessing. She said she has had a long association with the Isha Foundation and has performed at the Mahashivaratri festival for several years, including alongside her daughters and granddaughters.
Former Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman S. Kiran Kumar also received the award. Speaking on the occasion, he said the recognition was not personal but belonged to ISRO as an institution that has consistently worked to advance space technology for the country’s benefit.
He highlighted ISRO’s contributions from the early days of communication, broadcasting, and navigation satellites to landmark missions to the Moon and Mars, stating that such efforts have strengthened India’s global technological standing. Kumar emphasised that he was merely representing the organisation’s decades-long service and achievements.
According to the Isha Foundation’s official website, the Bhavya Bharat Bhushan Award is envisioned as a national honour celebrating extraordinary individuals whose dedication and contributions have significantly impacted the nation’s growth and the well-being of its citizens.
