The Aryavarth Express Ranchi (Jharkhand): The Ranchi District Collectorate received a bomb threat via email on Wednesday, triggering a security alert and a large-scale search operation at the premises.
Following the threat, security agencies, including the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and a sniffer dog team, were deployed to thoroughly inspect the building. Officials said each floor of the collectorate, along with the parking area and old vehicles stationed there, is being carefully checked.
Kotwali DSP Prakash Soy confirmed the incident and said the threat email claimed that a bomb had been planted in the Collectorate and would be detonated at a specified time.
“After receiving the email, we immediately called the BDDS team and the dog squad. A detailed search of every floor and the parking area is underway. So far, nothing suspicious has been found. The cyber cell is working to trace the source of the email,” Soy said.
Authorities said the search operation is ongoing and further details are awaited.
Earlier, a similar threat email had been received by a civil court in Ranchi, and an investigation into that incident is also in progress.
In a separate but related development, the Patna Civil Court received a bomb threat on Thursday, a day after an email warning. Heavy police deployment was made outside the court premises, and anti-terror squads, along with dog squads, conducted searches for any explosive materials.
Anshuman, an advocate at the Patna Civil Court, said the District Bar Association (DBA) is scheduled to meet to discuss measures to prevent such incidents in the future. He added that the court would remain closed for the day following the threat.
Calling the incident concerning, the advocate said repeated threats disrupt judicial work, cause inconvenience to lawyers and litigants, and lead to revenue losses for the government.
