Kishtwar (Jammu and Kashmir), February 9:
Security forces continue intensive search-and-cordon operations in the Chatroo area of Kishtwar district as part of the ongoing Operation Trashi-I, which has been underway for over 20 days.
Troops of the 7 Assam Rifles, along with other security agencies, are conducting sustained operations deep inside dense jungles and difficult terrain to track down terrorists believed to be hiding in the region. Operation Trashi-I was launched to eliminate terrorist presence in the area.
On February 4, security forces successfully neutralised one terrorist during an encounter in the general area of Dichhar, Kishtwar, the Indian Army said. According to the White Knight Corps, contact was re-established with terrorists on the run at around 5:45 pm during a joint operation involving troops of CIF Delta White Knight Corps, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF.
“One terrorist has been successfully neutralised. Operation is in progress,” the White Knight Corps said in a post on X.
Earlier, on January 19, the Indian Army paid last tributes to Havildar Gajendra Singh, a Special Forces soldier who laid down his life while gallantly executing a counter-terrorism operation in the Singhpora area of Chatroo during the intervening night of January 18 and 19, as part of Operation Trashi-I.
In a tribute posted on X, the White Knight Corps said, “The GOC, White Knight Corps and all ranks pay solemn tribute to Havildar Gajendra Singh of the Special Forces, who made the supreme sacrifice while gallantly executing a Counter Terrorism operation during the ongoing Operation TRASHI-I.”
“We honour his indomitable courage, valour and selfless devotion to duty and stand firmly with the bereaved family in this hour of profound grief,” the post added.
