SHIMLA — Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Himachal Pradesh spokesperson Randhir Sharma on Tuesday strongly defended the Union Budget, describing it as a decisive step towards building a developed and self-reliant India. He dismissed criticism from opposition parties, calling their claims misleading and politically motivated.
Addressing the media, Randhir Sharma said the Union Budget reflects the Centre’s long-term vision of economic growth, social welfare, and national development. According to him, the budget focuses on strengthening key sectors such as infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture, and employment generation, while ensuring financial discipline and inclusive growth.
Randhir Sharma asserted that the government’s policies under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi are aimed at empowering all sections of society, including farmers, youth, women, and the poor. He said the budget continues the government’s commitment to reforms and investment-led growth, which he claimed are essential for transforming India into a developed nation.
Criticising the opposition, Sharma said their objections to the budget lack substance and fail to acknowledge the broader economic objectives outlined by the government. He alleged that opposition parties are deliberately misrepresenting the budget provisions to create confusion among the public.
The BJP spokesperson further highlighted that the budget supports the vision of a self-reliant India by encouraging domestic production, innovation, and entrepreneurship. He added that initiatives aimed at boosting manufacturing and strengthening the economy will help reduce dependence on imports and enhance India’s global competitiveness.
Sharma also emphasised that the budget places importance on fiscal responsibility while balancing welfare measures and development priorities. He said this approach ensures sustainable economic growth and stability in the long run.
Reiterating the BJP’s confidence in the Union Budget, Sharma stated that it lays a strong foundation for India’s future growth and prosperity. He urged the opposition to engage in constructive debate rather than making what he described as baseless allegations.
The Union Budget has sparked political reactions across the country, with the ruling party defending it as forward-looking and growth-oriented, while opposition parties continue to raise concerns over its impact on various sections of society.
