New Delhi [India]: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi on Martyrs’ Day, marking the 78th anniversary of the Father of the Nation’s death. Both leaders remembered Gandhi for his enduring ideals of truth, non-violence and compassion.
In a post on X, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said Mahatma Gandhi’s life and values continue to inspire humanity. He noted that Bapu’s unwavering commitment to truth, his steadfast practice of non-violence and his deep compassion for mankind would forever illuminate the world. The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also urged people to imbibe Gandhi’s ideals and contribute towards building a prosperous, just and developed India.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also paid tribute, describing Mahatma Gandhi’s thoughts and principles as a constant guiding force. In his message on X, Kumar said Bapu’s ideals would always inspire society and continue to guide future generations.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Traffic Police issued a traffic advisory in view of an official function scheduled at Mahatma Gandhi Smriti Sthal, Rajghat, on January 30 to commemorate Martyrs’ Day. The event is expected to be attended by several dignitaries, leading to enhanced security arrangements and traffic regulations in parts of central Delhi.
According to the advisory, traffic diversions may be implemented on a need basis at key junctions, including ITO Chowk, Delhi Gate, Guru Nanak Chowk, Shantivan Chowk, Rajghat DTC Depot and the IP Flyover. Traffic restrictions and diversions may be enforced between 9 am and 12 noon on several arterial roads and surrounding stretches, including BSZ Marg from ITO Chowk to Delhi Gate, Shantivan Chowk to IP Flyover, Asaf Ali Road from Delhi Gate to NS Marg, Shantivan Chowk to Nishad Raj Marg, Guru Nanak Chowk to Ranjeet Singh Flyover, and the stretch from Rajghat DTC Depot to Ring Road Bypass.
The police have advised commuters to plan their journeys in advance, use public transport wherever possible, park only in designated areas and avoid roadside parking. Citizens have also been urged to immediately inform the police by dialling 112 in case they notice any suspicious person or object.
