The Aryavarth Express New Delhi, January 28: Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Wednesday expressed profound grief over the untimely and tragic death of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar, describing his passing as an irreparable loss to the nation.

In his condolence message, Gupta said Pawar’s death was not only a devastating blow to his family and political colleagues, but also to public life in Maharashtra and across India. He lauded Pawar as a seasoned public servant whose long and distinguished political career was defined by determination, resilience, and sincere engagement with the aspirations of the people he served.

The Speaker extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family and all those mourning the loss, offering his prayers for strength during this difficult time and for eternal peace for the departed soul.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed his condolences in a series of posts on X, mourning the tragic air crash in Baramati, Maharashtra. The Prime Minister conveyed his sorrow for all those who lost loved ones in the accident and offered prayers for the bereaved families.

In his posts, PM Modi remembered Pawar as a leader with deep grassroots connections, respected for his dedicated service to the people of Maharashtra. He highlighted Pawar’s administrative acumen and commitment to empowering the poor and marginalized, calling his sudden demise shocking and deeply saddening. “Condolences to his family and countless admirers. Om Shanti,” Modi wrote.

Ajit Pawar, 66, lost his life on Wednesday morning when the aircraft he was traveling in crashed while attempting to land at Baramati airport in Pune district. All five people on board the chartered plane — including Pawar, his personal security officer, a flight attendant, and two pilots — were killed when the aircraft crash-landed near the runway threshold at around 8:48 a.m.

Following the accident, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau dispatched teams to the site to investigate the cause of the crash. Pawar was en route to Baramati to campaign for the upcoming Zilla Panchayat elections.
