Sunny Deol’s Border 2 continues its strong run at the box office, registering a significant jump in collections on its second day in theatres.
After a solid opening on Friday, January 23, the war drama witnessed strong growth on Saturday, driven by positive word of mouth from audiences across the country.
According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the film recorded a 26.46 per cent growth on Day 2, collecting ₹40.59 crore. Having opened with ₹32.10 crore on Friday, Border 2 has now amassed a total of ₹72.69 crore in net domestic collections within just two days.
The film is now heading into an extended weekend, with Sunday and the Republic Day holiday on Monday expected to further boost box office numbers.
Adarsh noted that the film has performed exceptionally well in mass circuits, with several theatres running at near-full capacity. Even in metropolitan centres such as Mumbai, where the film had a relatively lukewarm start on Friday, footfalls saw a noticeable improvement on Saturday.
Inspired by true events from the 1971 India–Pakistan War, Border 2 portrays the combined might of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, with Sunny Deol returning to the big screen in uniform.
Directed by Anurag Singh, the film also features Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh in pivotal roles. Border 2 is produced by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with JP Dutta’s JP Films.
