Tirupati (Andhra Pradesh), January 12: The Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) PSLV-C62 mission, launched on Monday carrying the ‘Anvesha’/EOS-N1 Earth observation satellite along with 15 co-passenger satellites, encountered a disturbance during the final phase of the PS3 (third-stage) burn, leading to a deviation in the vehicle’s flight path.

Confirming the development, ISRO stated in a post on X that a detailed analysis of the anomaly has been initiated. ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan said the mission progressed as expected until the later part of the third stage, when increased disturbance in the vehicle was observed.

“Today, we attempted the PSLV-C62/EOS-N1 mission. The PSLV is a four-stage launch vehicle with two solid and two liquid stages. The vehicle’s performance was normal until near the end of the third stage. However, increased disturbance was noticed, followed by a deviation in the vehicle’s flight path. We are analysing the data and will share further details at the earliest,” Narayanan said.

The PSLV-C62 launch marked ISRO’s first major mission of 2026 and was intended to place an Earth observation satellite into orbit from the First Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota.

The mission was executed by NewSpace India Limited (NSIL) and represented the ninth dedicated commercial launch for deploying an Earth observation satellite. Notably, for the first time, a single Indian private company—Hyderabad-based Dhruva Space—contributed seven satellites to the mission.

Dhruva Space CFO and Co-founder Chaitanya Dora Surapureddy said the company launched four satellites built in-house—three for customers and one for itself—while also assisting other firms with satellite integration. “In total, nine of our systems that we have built are flying on this mission, which is quite exciting,” he said.

“This is not just an accident — it is the outcome of a broken and corrupt system, highlighting serious failures under the Congress government.”@hvgoenka @BlrCityPolice @DKShivakumar @INCKarnataka @GBAChiefComm @GBA_office @contractorsbbmp @TVMohandasPai @kiranshaw https://t.co/UhHYfaNlDP

Surapureddy added that the satellites are designed for low-data-rate communication and can be utilised by amateur radio operators. “These satellites demonstrate low-data-rate communication capabilities and provide valuable use cases for amateur radio operations,” he said.

ISRO is expected to share further updates once the data analysis is completed.
