Indore: A 45-year-old man died after his throat was slit by a kite string while riding his motorcycle in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, police said on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Raghuveer Dhakar. The incident took place on the stretch between Khajrana Chowk and Bengali Chowk.

Tilak Nagar Police Station SHO Manish Lodha said the police received information about the incident after the victim was taken to the hospital. “We were informed that a bike rider died after a kite string cut his throat. The victim was identified as Raghuveer Dhakar, aged 45. The incident occurred between Khajrana Chowk and Bengali Chowk,” he said, adding that further details are awaited.

In a separate incident, a case of alleged medical negligence has surfaced at the government-run Maharaja Yashwant Rao (MY) Hospital in Indore. A nurse reportedly severed the thumb of a one-and-a-quarter-month-old infant while attempting to remove a venflon from the child’s hand in the pediatrics department.

The infant, who was undergoing treatment for pneumonia, was immediately shifted to the Super Speciality Hospital. Doctors from MGM Medical College performed surgery to reattach the severed thumb, which was successful. Hospital officials said the child’s condition is now stable.

Following the incident, disciplinary action has been initiated against the staff involved. Nursing Officer Arti Kshetri has been suspended, and the salaries of three other nurses have been ordered to be withheld for one month.

MGM Medical College Dean Dr Arvind Ghanghoria said an inquiry committee has been constituted to investigate the matter. “A nurse was trying to remove a venflon secured with dynaplast adhesive bandage. While cutting it off, the infant’s thumb was severed. The child was immediately shifted to the Super Speciality Hospital, where doctors successfully reattached the thumb,” he said, adding that the infant’s condition has improved and is currently stable.
