Agartala (Tripura): Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday paid tribute to former Tripura Legislative Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen at a memorial meeting organised by the BJP Tripura State Committee in Agartala.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister recalled Sen’s significant contribution to the state’s legislative traditions and his role in upholding democratic values. He described Sen as a leader known for discipline, simplicity and dedication to public service, qualities that earned him respect across party lines.
The memorial meeting was attended by senior BJP leaders, party workers and supporters, who observed a moment of silence and offered floral tributes in memory of the late leader.
Earlier, on Saturday, CM Saha said the state government is working towards developing a “new Agartala” with improved infrastructure and enhanced public facilities. He highlighted ongoing projects such as road construction and beautification, drainage works, a ring road and multi-level car parking facilities.
Acknowledging the temporary inconvenience caused by construction activities, he said these efforts would bring long-term benefits to the public. He also mentioned that the tallest building in the state is being constructed at Gorkhabasti to house all government directorates, marking a major step in transforming the city’s landscape.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while attending a blood donation camp at the 39th No. Ward Community Hall in Agartala. Stressing the importance of scientific awareness, he advised people to follow healthy practices, especially during winter, to maintain proper blood circulation.
CM Saha emphasised the importance of hard work and public service, stating that sincere efforts are always remembered. Highlighting the significance of blood donation, he said blood has no religion and is essential for saving lives, calling it one of the greatest forms of service to humanity.
