Angul (Odisha): Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan participated in the ‘Swachh, Sundar, Sabuja Angul’ cleanliness campaign in Angul, Odisha, on Sunday, reaffirming the Centre’s focus on cleanliness and sustainable urban development.
During his visit, the minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for multiple development projects worth over ₹27 crore under the Angul Municipality.
In another key engagement in the state, Pradhan on Saturday inaugurated a sports complex and laid the foundation stone for additional development projects at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela. He highlighted that NIT Rourkela secured the 13th position in the engineering category of the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) this year.
Addressing the gathering, Pradhan said he visited the campus to congratulate the institute on its achievement and to extend his best wishes. He noted that India is on the brink of a major technological transformation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said the vision of a “Viksit Bharat” would also pave the way for a developed Odisha by 2036. He expressed confidence that NIT Rourkela would play a significant role in this journey.
Earlier this week, the Union Education Minister laid foundation stones for development projects worth ₹250 crore at Rairakhol on the occasion of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s 101st birth anniversary. Speaking at the event, Pradhan said the projects were unveiled as part of the observance of Sushasan Diwas.
Separately, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated a new Training and Briefing Centre for the Special Operations Group (SOG) at Chandaka, with the capacity to train 400 personnel simultaneously. He also inaugurated a modern Counter-Terrorism Training Centre at the same location.
