New Delhi, December 16:
Two brothers were shot dead in a firing incident reported in Delhi’s Jafrabad area early Monday morning, police said.
The incident occurred around 1:40 am in Gali No. 30/8 under the jurisdiction of Jafrabad Police Station. When police reached the spot, they found Faizal (30) dead. His elder brother, Nadeem (33), was rushed to JPC Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Police have registered a case under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. Section 103(1) of the BNS pertains to punishment for murder, while the Arms Act sections deal with illegal possession and use of firearms, with enhanced punishment in cases involving death.
A forensic team was deployed at the scene to collect evidence, and multiple police teams have been formed to identify and arrest the accused. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination to ascertain the nature of injuries and the exact circumstances of the crime.
Further investigation is underway, police said.
The incident follows another shooting in Delhi’s Shahdara area last week, where a 50-year-old man was shot dead. Police officials said the victim was found with three bullet wounds after a woman alerted authorities, claiming her husband had been shot.
