New Delhi: Flight operations at Delhi airport were disrupted on Monday as dense fog significantly reduced visibility across the capital and parts of northern India. In response, Air India and IndiGo issued travel advisories, urging passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
Air India, in a post on X, said poor visibility caused by dense fog was impacting flight operations in Delhi and surrounding regions. The airline advised travellers to stay informed by checking real-time updates on its official website.
IndiGo also warned of possible delays and disruptions due to low visibility and fog over Delhi. The airline said it was closely monitoring weather conditions and making efforts to ensure passenger safety and smooth operations. Passengers were requested to regularly check flight updates through the airline’s website or mobile app. IndiGo assured that its ground teams were available to assist travellers and thanked passengers for their patience.
The advisories come amid deteriorating weather and air quality conditions in the capital. A thick layer of smog covered Delhi on Monday morning, sharply reducing visibility.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi’s overall Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 452 around 8 am on Monday, categorising it as “Severe.” The situation remained grim on Sunday as well, when the AQI was recorded at 461 at around 4 pm.
