New Delhi: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi on Monday underscored the Indian Navy’s strategic role in Operation Sindoor, noting that the force’s rapid mobilisation and “aggressive posturing” significantly influenced Pakistan’s naval behaviour during the operation.

Addressing a press conference in Delhi, Admiral Tripathi said that while the operation remains ongoing and certain details cannot be disclosed, the Navy’s swift actions—including the deployment of a carrier battle group in the northern Arabian Sea—compelled the Pakistan Navy to remain confined to its ports, airbases, or close to the Makran coast.

“It is an operation still in progress, and many operational details cannot be shared. But the aggressive posturing and immediate steps we took forced the Pakistan Navy to remain in its ports. It never ventured out,” he said.

The Navy Chief added that India’s deployment and readiness had broader strategic consequences, including a noticeable impact on Pakistan’s economy over four to five days.
“Major global shipping companies began avoiding Pakistani ports. Insurance premiums for vessels headed there went up, reducing the number of merchant ships willing to take the risk,” he noted.

Admiral Tripathi emphasised that the Navy was fully prepared to undertake any action required during the operation and continues to maintain heightened operational readiness.

He said the force has ensured complete maritime domain awareness and sustained operational tempo in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, reinforcing India’s strategic posture in the region.
