Mumbai: Actress Esha Deol has dismissed false media reports claiming the demise of her father, veteran Bollywood actor Dharmendra, confirming that he is “stable and recovering.”
Addressing the rumours that surfaced on Tuesday, Esha took to her Instagram handle to issue a clarification and urged the media to refrain from spreading misinformation.
“The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery,” she wrote.
Dharmendra was reportedly admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai after his health deteriorated on Monday. Following the news, several fans and film industry colleagues expressed concern and gathered at the hospital to check on his condition.
Earlier in the day, Sunny Deol also issued a statement through his team, confirming that his father was under medical observation and requested people not to believe or circulate unverified reports.
“Mr Dharmendra is stable and under observation. Further updates will be shared as available. Kindly avoid spreading false rumours and continue to pray for his speedy recovery,” the statement read.
Dharmendra’s wife and veteran actress Hema Malini also shared an update on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the outpouring of concern.
“I thank everyone for their concern about Dharam ji, who is in the hospital for observation. He is being continuously monitored, and we are all with him. I request you all to pray for his welfare and speedy recovery,” she wrote.
Fondly known as the “He-Man” of Bollywood, Dharmendra is one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated actors, known for his iconic roles in classics such as Phool Aur Patthar, Sholay, Seeta Aur Geeta, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Jugnu, Dost, Pratiggya, Charas, and Dharam Veer.
The Deol family has urged fans and media outlets to respect their privacy while the 88-year-old actor continues to recover under medical supervision.
