Ahmedabad: The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) on Sunday arrested three suspects for allegedly conspiring to carry out terrorist attacks across the country, officials confirmed.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Dr. Ahmed Mohiuddin Syed (son of Abdul Khadar Jeelani), Mohd Suhel (son of Mohd Suleman), and Azad (son of Suleman Saifi). They were apprehended near the Adalaj Toll Plaza in Gujarat.

During the operation, the ATS recovered two Glock pistols, one Beretta pistol, 30 live cartridges, and four litres of castor oil from their possession.

According to an official statement, the accused were arrested while allegedly supplying weapons and were planning to execute terrorist attacks in different parts of India.

This latest action comes months after the Gujarat ATS busted an Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) module earlier this year. Five individuals, including a woman from Bengaluru named Sama Parveen, were arrested for allegedly running an online terror network with links to Pakistani handlers.

Previously, on July 23, the ATS arrested four suspects — Mohd Faiq (Delhi), Mohd Fardeen (Ahmedabad), Sefullah Kureshi (Modasa, Aravalli), and Zeeshan Ali (Noida, Uttar Pradesh) — for their alleged links with AQIS.

Confirming the developments, DIG Sunil Joshi of Gujarat ATS said the arrests were made following specific intelligence inputs and coordinated surveillance efforts. He added that investigations are ongoing to trace the broader network and uncover potential connections to international terror organisations.
