New Delhi: In a swift breakthrough, the South-West District Police cracked the murder case of 23-year-old cab driver Nitesh Khatri within two hours of the crime being reported, according to an official release.
The team from Kishangarh Police Station arrested two suspects — Mohit Mehlawat alias Mannu (23), a resident of Kishangarh, and Lucky alias Tannu (23), from Mehrauli.
The case came to light on Monday morning when a passerby discovered Khatri’s body lying in a pool of blood inside Machhli Park, Kishangarh. The victim had sustained multiple stab wounds to his abdomen and near his ear.
Police quickly began their investigation, unlocking the victim’s phone using facial recognition technology. A combination of CCTV footage analysis and inputs from local informers led investigators to the suspects within hours.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to murdering Khatri over personal enmity and revenge stemming from earlier disputes. The duo reportedly used Instagram to lure the victim to the park, where they attacked him with knives.
Police recovered two blood-stained knives and the clothes worn by the accused during the crime. Investigators revealed that Mehlawat already faces two attempt-to-murder cases registered at Kishangarh Police Station, while his accomplice Lucky is said to be a drug addict.
Authorities praised the swift coordination and use of technology that led to the quick resolution of the case.
