Mumbai: A major fire broke out in the early hours of Monday at a cluster of shops in the Kurla West area of Mumbai, causing significant damage, particularly to motor spare parts stores.

According to local shopkeepers, the blaze started around 2:30 AM. More than 10 fire-fighting vehicles, including eight specialized units, were deployed to the scene. Firefighters battled the flames for nearly four hours before bringing the situation under control. Cooling operations are currently underway.

Divisional Fire Officer SB Bhosale confirmed that an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, in coordination with local police authorities. He stated that, fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

In a separate incident on Sunday, a fire broke out in a residential tower in the Kharghar area of Navi Mumbai. The blaze, reportedly caused by a short circuit in the building’s duct, erupted around 12:50 PM in the Tricity Symphony tower.

The Central Reserve Police Force’s (CRPF) Rapid Action Force (RAF) quickly responded to the emergency. Led by the Commandant of the 102 RAF Battalion, the Quick Action Team managed to rescue seven residents — including three women — from the 17th and 18th floors of the building. All rescued individuals, found in a semi-conscious state due to heavy smoke inhalation, were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, CRPF officials confirmed.

Authorities continue to investigate both incidents.
