New Delhi: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested two wanted criminals after an encounter in the Kapashera area, officials confirmed on Friday.
According to Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), Pramod Singh Kushwaha, the arrested individuals have been identified as Akash Rajput, a resident of Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan, and Mahipal, from Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
Akash Rajput was wanted in a July 2022 shooting incident outside a hospital in Assandh, Karnal — a crime allegedly orchestrated by overseas-based gangster Daler Kotia. He was also linked to a high-profile kidnapping-for-ransom case in Gujarat in July 2025, where gangster Kiritsinh Jhala, also based abroad, demanded ₹100 crore from the victim.
Police revealed that Rajput had recently joined hands with notorious gangsters Rohit Godara, Goldy Brar, and Virender Charan. He was in the final stages of securing a fake passport to flee the country. The Rajasthan Police had earlier announced a ₹20,000 reward for his capture.
His associate, Mahipal, was out on bail in connection with the same 2022 Assandh shooting and had since aligned himself with other international criminal elements. During the encounter, one of the accused sustained injuries and has been hospitalized. Legal proceedings are currently underway.
Crackdown on Adulterated Ghee Units in North-East Delhi
In another major operation, Delhi Police’s Crime Branch, along with officials from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), busted three illegal manufacturing units producing adulterated desi ghee in Shiv Vihar, Karawal Nagar, and Mustafabad.
During the raids, authorities seized 1,625 kg of adulterated ghee and arrested six individuals — identified as Shafiq, Shakir, Sharukh, Jamaluddin, Yusuf, and his son Mehboob.
According to officials, the accused were mixing Dalda, vegetable oil, and chemicals into the ghee and distributing it across the market. Investigations are ongoing to trace the supply chain and assess the health impact.
Over 690 kg of Illegal Firecrackers Seized in Matiala
In a separate operation aimed at ensuring public safety ahead of the festive season, the Crime Branch seized 693 kg of illegal firecrackers of 42 different brands from a residential area in Matiala village.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided the premises and apprehended Dilbagh Singh (52), who had been operating the illegal storage under the guise of an ice cream manufacturing unit. Authorities highlighted that the firecrackers were stored under unsafe conditions, posing a significant threat to nearby residents.
