Zokhawthar, Mizoram: Assam Rifles recovered 6.86 kilograms (70,700 tablets) of methamphetamine valued at approximately ₹21 crore during a search operation conducted at Crossing Point 4 in Zokhawthar on Monday night.

According to a press release, the operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs. The seized narcotics have been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau in Aizawl for further investigation.

This significant drug bust follows another recent operation by Assam Rifles in Champhai district, where troops seized 466 bags of illegal areca nuts, weighing 35,560 kg and estimated to be worth around ₹2.48 crore.

The Champhai operation, carried out on August 11 in the Ruantlang area, also stemmed from credible intelligence. It involved surveillance and area domination patrols to intercept the illegal consignment. The recovered goods were handed over to the Customs Preventive Force, Champhai.

Assam Rifles emphasized that these back-to-back operations underscore its continued commitment to combating smuggling and narcotics trafficking in the region through effective coordination with intelligence and enforcement agencies.
