New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday conducted searches at 18 locations across Chhattisgarh as part of an investigation into an alleged ₹500 crore medical supply scam. The probe centers on suspected financial irregularities involving Mokshit Corporation, officials from the Chhattisgarh Medical Services Corporation (CGMSC), and the Directorate of Health Services (DHS), according to official sources.
Raids were carried out at premises linked to medical suppliers, CGMSC and DHS officials in Raipur, Durg, and nearby areas. The agency is investigating potential violations under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
The case pertains to alleged irregularities in the procurement of medical equipment and reagent chemicals during 2023. Investigators believe that after securing a rate contract, the accused conspired with government officials to issue purchase orders worth nearly ₹500 crore, leading to an estimated loss of ₹550 crore to the state exchequer.
The ED’s operation seeks to uncover evidence of fraudulent procurement practices and the suspected collusion between private firms and public officials in Chhattisgarh’s healthcare system.
