New Delhi: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari held a comprehensive review meeting in the national capital on Monday to evaluate the progress of ongoing National Highway projects in Maharashtra.
The meeting focused on several key infrastructure projects, including multiple packages of the Mumbai-Goa Highway (Packages I, VI, and VII), the Choudampalli–Sironcha stretch of National Highway 353C, the Mudkhed–Nanded stretch of NH 161A, the Talere–Gaganbawda–Kolhapur section of NH 166G, improvements along NH 52 near Kharwandi Kasar Junction, and the Naldurg–Akkalkot corridor under NH 652.
In a separate development on Sunday, Gadkari, while speaking at a book launch event in Nagpur, expressed grave concerns about the escalating global conflicts. Highlighting the wars between Russia and Ukraine and the rising tensions between Israel and Iran, he warned of the increasing likelihood of a third world war if global unrest continues to intensify.
“The global atmosphere is charged with conflict,” said Gadkari. “With the rise in missile and drone warfare, traditional forms of combat involving tanks and aircraft are becoming less relevant. This transformation in war strategy has made it increasingly difficult to safeguard civilian lives.”
He emphasized the urgent need for global dialogue to address these mounting tensions. “It’s a harsh reality, but the current path seems to be leading the world toward destruction,” he cautioned.
