Pune, Maharashtra – A tragic bridge collapse over the Indrayani River in Pune‘s Talegaon area on Sunday afternoon resulted in four deaths and 51 injuries. In response, Maharashtra‘s top officials, led by Chief Secretary Sujata Saunik, held an emergency high-level meeting on Monday to assess the situation and coordinate relief efforts.

Key officials, including the Additional Chief Secretary, Rural Development Secretary (Roads), Pune Divisional Commissioner, District Collector Jitendra Dudi, and law enforcement, participated—many joining virtually.

According to District Collector Dudi, the incident occurred at 3:15 pm, and rescue teams arrived by 3:30 pm. About 38 individuals have been rescued so far, while search operations continue amid rainfall, with two teams deployed on-site.

The deceased have been identified as Chandrakant Salve, Rohit Mane, Vihaan Mane, and one unidentified male. A survivor noted the bridge was overcrowded with people and vehicles before it gave way, sweeping many into the river.

Authorities have yet to report any missing persons, and injured victims are receiving treatment at local hospitals.
