New Delhi: In a major diplomatic move, India will dispatch seven all-party delegations to key partner nations later this month to highlight the country’s united stance against terrorism, particularly cross-border terrorism. This initiative follows the launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7, in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.

The delegations, each led by a prominent Member of Parliament, will visit several global capitals, including Washington D.C., London, Abu Dhabi, Pretoria, and Tokyo. Their mission is to convey India’s firm message of zero tolerance for terrorism and to reinforce international cooperation in combating the global threat.

The delegation leaders include:

Shashi Tharoor (Congress)

Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP)

Sanjay Kumar Jha (JDU)

Baijayant Panda (BJP)

Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK)

Supriya Sule (NCP – SP)

Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena)

Each team will include Members of Parliament from various political parties, senior political figures, and experienced diplomats, underscoring a rare display of political unity on matters of national security.

Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju, who is coordinating the initiative, emphasized the importance of bipartisan cooperation. In a post on social media platform X, Rijiju said, “In moments that matter most, Bharat stands united. Seven all-party delegations will soon visit key partner nations, carrying our shared message of zero tolerance to terrorism—a powerful reflection of national unity above politics, beyond differences.”

The 10-day tour, beginning May 23, marks the first time the Indian government is deploying cross-party parliamentary teams to directly communicate the country’s position on terrorism and the Kashmir issue to the global community. The effort aims to strengthen India’s narrative following recent anti-terror operations and build consensus among international stakeholders.

Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, involved targeted strikes against terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), reportedly resulting in over 100 militant casualties. The operation was initiated following the deadly attack in Pahalgam, which India attributes to Pakistan-based terror groups.

This diplomatic outreach is expected to reinforce India’s credibility on global platforms such as the United Nations Security Council and foster deeper security cooperation with partner nations.
