Ayodhya: Devotees in large numbers thronged the Hanuman Garhi Temple in Ayodhya on the occasion of Bada Mangal, marking the first Tuesday of the Hindu month Jyeshtha. Long queues of devotees were seen patiently waiting for their turn to offer prayers and seek blessings from Lord Hanuman.
Similar scenes were witnessed at the Lete Hanuman Temple in Prayagraj, where scores of devotees gathered to take part in the rituals. In Delhi, the historic Hanuman temple in Connaught Place also saw a heavy footfall as worshippers came together to celebrate the auspicious day.
Bada Mangal, also known as Budhwa Mangal, is dedicated to Lord Hanuman and is observed with great devotion and enthusiasm. Falling in the Jyeshtha month of the Hindu calendar, the day holds special spiritual significance for Hanuman devotees. Many observe fasts, perform special pujas, and chant Hanuman mantras to invoke the blessings of the revered deity, often called Sankatmochan—the remover of obstacles.
This year’s Bada Mangal follows the celebration of Hanuman Jayanti on April 12, which commemorated the birth of Lord Hanuman. Hanuman Jayanti falls on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Chaitra (March–April) and is celebrated by fasting, prayer, and chanting in honour of the deity known for his unwavering devotion to Lord Ram.
Both occasions reflect the deep-rooted devotion and cultural importance of Lord Hanuman in Hindu tradition, drawing thousands to temples across the country.
