Ferozepur, Punjab: The Border Security Force (BSF) neutralised a Pakistani intruder in the early hours of Thursday in the Ferozepur sector of Punjab. According to official sources, the incident occurred during the intervening night of May 7 and 8 when the unidentified individual was spotted crossing the international border under the cover of darkness.

Despite repeated warnings from BSF personnel, the intruder continued advancing toward the border fence, prompting the troops to open fire. The body was recovered at daybreak and handed over to local police for further investigation. The intruder’s identity remains unknown.

Meanwhile, tensions remain high along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported on Thursday that 13 civilians have died and 59 others have been injured—44 of them in Poonch district—amid ongoing ceasefire violations by Pakistani forces.

The shelling intensified following Operation Sindoor on May 7, during which Indian armed forces targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Since then, Pakistani forces have been engaging in unprovoked small-arms and artillery fire, damaging civilian infrastructure in several sectors, including Kupwara, Baramulla, Uri, and Akhnoor.

The Indian Army has responded proportionately and continues to monitor the situation closely. Panic has spread among border villagers, with several homes sustaining damage due to the ongoing shelling.
