Bengaluru – A special court in Bengaluru has directed the Lokayukta Police to continue their investigation into the MUDA (Mysore Urban Development Authority) scam case and submit a final report. The court has scheduled the next hearing for May 7, when it will consider the previously submitted ‘B Report’.

The Lokayukta Police had earlier submitted a ‘B Report’ in connection with the investigation against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, suggesting insufficient evidence to proceed against him. However, the investigation into other accused individuals remains ongoing.

In response, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) challenged the Lokayukta’s findings, alleging that key information provided by their agency had not been taken into account. The ED also sought to submit 27 supporting documents to strengthen their objection.

While the Special Court acknowledged the ED’s concerns, it clarified that the agency cannot file a separate petition in this matter. However, the court allowed the ED to file an objection petition as an aggrieved party under legal provisions.

“The ED is a statutory investigative body and has the right to question the findings of the Lokayukta, especially in cases involving money laundering,” the ED counsel argued, citing Supreme Court rulings that stress the need for thorough investigations in such cases.

The Special Court has granted the Lokayukta Police permission to continue the probe and emphasised that the final report will be key to determining the next course of action in the high-profile case.
