Agency(West Bengal): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at an election rally in Raiganj, Uttar Dinajpur, has levied serious accusations against the Trinamool Congress (TMC), alleging that the party has sanctioned the entry of illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya migrants into West Bengal. According to Modi, this strategy is intended to manipulate the state’s demographic structure and bolster TMC’s voter base, compromising local law and order in the process.
Modi criticized the TMC’s opposition to the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), claiming the party spreads misinformation while denying citizenship to those affected by partition who oppose it. He accused the TMC of safeguarding these migrants to exploit the state’s electoral dynamics at the expense of its future.
During his speech, Modi also addressed past governance issues, blaming previous administrations, including the Congress, Left, and TMC, for stifling West Bengal’s development. He reiterated the BJP’s commitment to the state’s progress as a priority under his leadership.
Highlighting the recent Sandeshkali incident, Modi condemned the alleged actions of TMC leaders, stating that such behavior towards women was unacceptable and indicative of the party’s governance failures. He also accused TMC of corrupt practices involving MGNREGA funds and controlling civic permissions through local mafias rather than lawful means.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come amid the multi-phase Lok Sabha elections in West Bengal, with the BJP aiming to build on its 2019 performance where it significantly increased its seat tally in the state. The election results are keenly awaited, with counting scheduled for June 4.
