Agency(New Delhi): In a scathing critique of the Modi government’s last ten years, the Congress party, through its general secretary Jairam Ramesh, described the period as “maut kaal” (era of death) rather than the promised “amrit kaal” (golden age). Highlighting alarming national statistics on suicides and unemployment, Ramesh argued that the current government’s policies have led to widespread despair, particularly among farmers, housewives, and the youth.
Ramesh’s stark assessment of the Modi administration’s impact includes a record-breaking unemployment rate, surpassing those of neighboring countries, and the vacating of over 30 lakh government positions. This, combined with insufficient crop pricing for farmers and escalating inflation, paints a grim picture of India’s current socio-economic landscape, according to the Congress spokesperson.
In contrast, Ramesh outlined the Congress party’s vision for India, anchored in the ‘Paanch NYAY Pachees Guarantee’, which promises to rectify the country’s trajectory and address the grievances of its citizens. This pledge represents the Congress’s commitment to bringing about significant changes in governance, aiming to alleviate the challenges faced by various sectors of the population.
As India approaches a critical electoral juncture, the Congress’s narrative emphasizes a readiness among the populace to transition away from the BJP’s rule towards a government that prioritizes social justice and economic revival. This shift, as envisioned by the Congress, suggests a significant realignment of policy focus towards employment, agricultural reform, and inflation control, setting the stage for a potentially transformative period in Indian politics.
