Vijayanagara: Police have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with a triple murder case reported from Kotturu town in Karnataka’s Vijayanagara district, officials said on Sunday.
According to Vijayanagara Superintendent of Police S. Jahnavi, the accused had earlier lodged a missing persons complaint at Tilak Nagar Police Station in Bengaluru on January 29, claiming that his parents and sister were untraceable. However, inconsistencies in his statements during the inquiry raised suspicion, prompting a deeper investigation.
“Based on the complaint filed by a person named Lakshya, a resident of Kotturu town, a missing persons case was registered at Tilak Nagar Police Station. During the inquiry, several discrepancies were found in his statements. Subsequently, a case was registered yesterday, and today a police team led by the Tilak Nagar Police Inspector arrived in Kotturu,” SP Jahnavi said.
Police later recovered the bodies of the three victims, which have been sent for post-mortem examination. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
The case is being investigated by the Tilak Nagar Police Station, Bengaluru, officials confirmed.
More details are awaited as the probe continues.
